Prelude from Te Deum (Eurovision Theme)

Te Deum is the abbreviated name for the Ambrosian worship, one of the oldest and most well-known Christian hymns. Many great composers have used the Te Deum text to their own music, among them works by Handel, Bruckner and Charpentier. The hymn has been played in different contexts as thanksgiving to God - for example, for the coronation of kings and emperors as they in earlier times often was King of God's Grace. The first part of the hymn, Prelude, is also known as Eurovision broadcasting theme music. Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704) was a French baroque composer, in his own time, best known for vocal church music.
